Man United fans believe Dean Henderson should replace De Gea next term after error vs Watford

Football is a funny old game. For at least a half-decade, Manchester United fans have given their backing to arguably the greatest goalkeeper within the sport in David de Gea.

However, over the last couple of years there has been a real inconsistency in the superstar Spaniard’s game. Errors have been happening with increasing regularity, which is obviously a major concern given the young team that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is working with.

Yesterday, De Gea made another monumental error which led to a 2-0 defeat away at Watford. The ball simply went through the hands of United’s #1, leaving the 29-year-old looking rather red-faced.

After the incident, Reds supporters’ made their voices heard via Twitter. Many United fans now want 22-year-old Dean Henderson to return from his loan spell at Sheffield United.

Over the summer, I honestly thought Henderson was going to get his United chance, but that wasn’t to be. Instead, he’d head back to Sheffield United and put in some sublime performances for a high-flying Blades side.

Henderson has it all; a great shot-stopper, command of his penalty area, decent distribution and quality leadership. There’s a real goalkeeper in there, make no mistake about it. Perhaps now, Solskjaer is seriously considering going in a different direction… The fans certainly feel as though dropping De Gea is a realistic option, that’s for sure.
