Man United fans call for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked following loss to Istanbul Basaksehir

For us, tonight felt like the beginning of the end. Now, Manchester United fans are calling for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be sacked in their droves.

Before tonight, we actually looked very good in the Champions League. However, this 2-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir highlighted yet another major flaw within this team. When sides sit back against us, United just cannot break them down.

Given how much money we’ve spent to assemble this squad, we’re well within our rights to demand better. Sure, the players deserve some of the blame, but the buck inevitably stops with the manager.

I’d like to think we’ve been very fair with Solskjaer, while his legendary status as a player definitely bought him more time with the fans. However, we’ve always been under the impression that he’d wipe the slate for the next manager. Now, that certainly feels likely…

Sometimes, the Baby Faced Assassin just looks tactically out of his depth. For every great performance, there are just as many awful ones and that’s the problem. Consistency is key if you’re looking to win major trophies. United just don’t have that.

After the game tonight, United fans took to Twitter in their masses to call for Solskjaer’s job and for the first time, I’m starting to feel that they’re right.

Check out the tweets from fans asking Solskjaer to be sacked here:

As some of those fans state, if we do it soon enough, we’ve got time to save the season. If we hang on much longer, this campaign will be an absolute write-off and we’ll be back to square one.

That said, I’d be surprised if Solskjaer loses his job before the Everton game this weekend. Lose that, though, and the powers-that-be at United have an awful lot to think about over the international break.
