Man United fans confused as Alejandro Garnacho remains absent

Man United supporters are starting to ask questions about Alejandro Garnacho and his lack of minutes.

Three games. Three wins. Manchester United are looking sharp under Erik ten Hag.

Thirty-one players jetted off for pre-season tour. We’ve seen all but two. The first, young keeper Matej Kovar. The other is far more surprising; Alejandro Garnacho.

Going into pre-season, the Argentine was the player I was most excited to see. I just assumed he’d flourish in an attack-minded system that plays to his strengths.

Well, we’re yet to see the talented teenager involved and nobody really knows why. A lot will happen behind the scenes that we don’t see, but perhaps Ten Hag just feels Garnacho isn’t quite ready at this stage in his career – which is understandable.

Either that, or there is some unexplained injury that the club don’t want to take a risk with, particularly as prolonged periods out on the treatment table at Garnacho’s tender age can seriously derail a career.

Suddenly, a loan move feels like a real possibility for Garnacho, while it’s easy to forget he’s yet to play regular football for the U23s for a prolonged period of time. No doubt the experience of being part of the tour squad will serve him well in the long run – though I would absolutely love to see him given at least 30 minutes here or there, just to see how he gets on.

As you’d expect, the United supporters would take to Twitter by the masses to share their disappointment at the lack of game time for the starlet. I honestly have no idea why the Argentine hasn’t been given one single minute of action…
