Donny van de Beek is yet to be included from the start of a Manchester United Premier League game. Yes, he’s had his minutes in the Carabao Cup, but at this stage, it just feels unfair.
The Dutchman is obviously immensely talented. That natural ability is clearly there. He’d change the game against Newcastle United last week with some brilliant link-up play, while, on the whole, he looks super-sharp.
We’ve played six games in the Premier League and Champions League. Van de Beek hasn’t started once despite looking mightily promising. He cut a sad figure on the bench again yesterday against Chelsea. He must be wondering what he has to do to be included from the beginning of matches.
Honestly, I don’t get it. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is supposed to be rewarding players who prove their worth. If he’s not going to start him at this point, why spend £45million on bringing him in?
Anyway, the fans are yet again calling for the 23-year-old to start on a regular basis and rightly so, too…

I would imagine that the manager is now starting to feel the pressure. Comments from Van de Beek’s agent certainly won’t help in that regard, either…
With Paul Pogba out of the starting line-up, you felt like Van de Beek would be a no-brainer to replace him. Instead, the Fred and Scott McTominay pivot seems to be something Solskjaer seriously likes. Don’t get me wrong, I actually like that combo, but I’m not sure Fred offers anything that Van de Beek doesn’t…
Surely, we’ll see Van de Beek in the team from the off against RB Leipzig? It’s a game that looks perfect for his style and one which will provide the Dutchman with the opportunity that we all think he deserves.
