Manchester has been painted red. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got the better of the world-class Pep Guardiola at The Emptihad yesterday, with Manchester United left celebrating at full-time.
The Red Devils were simply sublime, particularly on the counter-attack. It has been a while since I saw a Guardiola side get torn to shreds like that and it was an absolute joy to watch.
Amongst all the attacking brilliance, there was one Red Devils defender who stood tall; Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Going toe-to-toe with Raheem Sterling in a one-on-one battle was never going to be easy, but my, our right-back did a stellar job, winning 100% of his tackles and keeping his England teammate relatively quiet for the most part.
In his United career so far, Wan-Bissaka has remained super-consistent and I’m not sure there’s a better one-on-one defender in the Premier League right now. The scary thing is he’s only going to get better.
Again, the gripe on Wan-Bissaka is what he does in an offensive capacity. In time, that’ll come and this young man will swiftly become one of the best full-backs within the sport.
As you’d expect, Man United fans heaped the praise on the 22-year-old following his top derby day display. He was outstanding, huh?
