Marcus Rashford’s struggles continued vs Aston Villa last night, with the fans now concerned about the Englishman…
Manchester United squeezed past Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round last night, as the Red Devils continue to limp to positive results under Ralf Rangnick.
There’s a defensive foundation being built under the German, who’ll no doubt get it right at the other end of the pitch over time.
Our new boss has to be mightily concerned with what he’s seeing from Marcus Rashford, though. The Englishman should be viewed as one of the players who would benefit most from Rangnick – who loves working with younger players.
Right now, though, Rashford is going backwards. I’m starting to get seriously concerned about the Englishman, who isn’t anything close to the usual happy, charismatic footballer he always has been. Perhaps that summer with England is still haunting him? Or maybe he’s still carrying injury? Who knows.
One thing is for certain. Rashford normally displays an exemplary attitude on the field. That kind of wasn’t there last night – and I feel bad in writing that. I just hope he’s doing okay mentally. At the end of the day, he’s human and he knows how disappointing the performances have been more than anyone.
One thing is for certain. He will get it right again eventually. He’s too good-of-a-player to let this completely ruin him. Hopefully Rashy comes back with a vengeance for the second half of this season.
As you’d imagine, United fans all over the Twitterverse were disappointed with the performance from the key star. It really was a poor display vs Villa, with supporters left concerned.
