Man United fans are pretty gutted that no moves were made to sign Yves Bissouma.
Manchester United Football Club have been linked with plenty of names in the summer transfer window already. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if that number is above 100 at this point.
Erik ten Hag needs to add several signings in order to turn this squad into one that can win major trophies, particularly in midfield. Juan Mata, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have all left on free transfers. They have to be replaced.
One of the names that the Old Trafford club have apparently been looking at is Yves Bissouma. Although the interest in the Mali international has been pretty consistent, it has never felt like United would firm up that interest with an official bid.
That always confused me given the fact that the fit feels perfect. Bissouma is someone who’d slot straight into that defensive-midfield position from day one. He has Premier League experience and the job he does in protecting his back four is something that United had been desperate for.
Well, it has now been confirmed that the Reds transfer target will move elsewhere; Tottenham Hotspur. For just £25m.
Not only have United let a definite upgrade move to a direct rival, the transfer fee feels incredibly reasonable, too.
The only thing I can think of is that Bissouma has a legal case hanging over his head right now. With what’s happening with Mason Greenwood at present, perhaps they’ve chosen to avoid another run-in with the law. That absolutely makes sense if this is the case.
As you’d expect, the Man United fans were disappointed that Bissouma is looking likely to end up elsewhere. They took to Twitter by the masses to vent their frustrations.
