Well, I wasn’t expecting to wake up to Alex Sandro to United transfer rumours this morning. However, Alex Telles’ performance vs AS Roma definitely left plenty to be desired, with fans disappointed.
Manchester United made it into their first final under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, though the second 45 minutes certainly wasn’t a memorable one.
It felt like the Red Devils were doing all they can to give Roma a way back into the game. But for David de Gea, it could have been one of the biggest upsets in footballing history.
When Solskjaer thought the result was safe, he’d make a couple of changes at half-time to keep his regular starters fit. Alex Telles was introduced and from that point forward, United look in serious trouble.
Defensively, the Brazilian was nowhere to be found while his positional sense can only be described as awful. At one point, he was playing in that #10 role! Why? I have no idea.
His passing was wayward, while the former FC Porto man was trying to do far too much for some reason. Perhaps he’s trying too hard to impress the gaffer and force his way back into the team?
Telles’ night was compounded as Roma made it 3-2 on the night courtesy of his own goal. Sure, it was an unfortunate moment for the Brazilian, but it was no less than he deserved on an awful night for him personally.
As you’d imagine, United fans were left concerned with one supporter labelling the star a ‘huge liability’. He wasn’t the only disappointed fan, either…
