Man United fans were left frustrated at David de Gea, following an incredibly-poor display vs Everton.
3-3. In the 95th minute. This morning, I can’t help but feeling Manchester United’s title challenge is hanging on by a thread. Credit where it’s due, Everton stuck at it for the duration of the game – but it was United who threw it away with daft mistakes.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side bossed the match for 85 minutes, but three poor moments absolutely cost the Red Devils dearly. If our cross-town rivals win later today, I’d suspect we’ll be fighting for a spot in the top four as opposed to trying to make it #21.
There were several poor performances on the day, none more so than David de Gea. I’d like to preface by stating that I’m forever grateful for what the Spaniard has done for our club. However, his best days are now behind him.
De Gea was at fault for the first, feebly parrying the ball into Docoure’s path, allowing the midfielder to tuck home. He’d also absolutely bottle it for the late Everton equaliser, which in the end, cost us two points.
What irks me the most is his lack of presence. This isn’t a goalkeeper who’ll come and wipe everyone out when claiming crosses. Nor will he bark orders at his teammates. It was just a massive disappointment and with each passing game, I feel like we’re getting closer to Dean Henderson being given a rea run in the team.
As you’d imagine, United fans were absolutely raging at the star who just wasn’t good enough. One fan went as far as stating that he should be apologising to his teammates. I find it hard to disagree!
