Manchester United supporters believe Edinson Cavani should be given more opportunities to start games.
From day one, El Matador has been making only positive impressions amongst the Old Trafford Faithful. The Uruguayan brings an experience to the table, something which the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood can all learn from.
What’s most important is his quality. Although it’d take Edinson Cavani some time to get up to speed (a lack of pre-season will do that to you), we’ve seen just how brilliant the 32-year-old can be when in full flow.
From those two brilliantly-headed goals against Southampton to *that* insane strike versus Everton in the Carabao Cup, Cavani is only improving. He’d even impact the game against Leicester yesterday with a lovely through-ball into Bruno Fernandes’ path. The latter would duly slot home.
Cavani is someone who knits this team together nicely. Not only can he hold the ball up, he’s also our best run-maker while his finishing ability is on that world-class level.
So far, Cavani has been drip-fed minutes. Now is the time to give this man a real run in the team, surely? Particularly as the young United forwards continue to show their inconsistencies from game-to-game. Why not go to the wise-old head and allow them to learn from Cavani over the next few weeks?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the bold call to make, but he’d certainly have the fans’ backing with this one. Cavani is the in-form player and it definitely makes sense to give him a prolonged period in the team.
I guess the only concern is that a domestic ban potentially looms for Cavani due to a social media post, but let’s wait and see the outcome of that first.
As you’d imagine, United fans would take to Twitter in their droves to urge the Reds to start the United star in their upcoming matches.
