Man United fans heap praise on Lingard for top cameo vs Villareal

Man United fans were loving the impact Jesse Lingard made last night vs Villareal. Now, they’re calling for him to start.

Well, they left it typically late but Manchester United got the job done at home to Villareal. It wasn’t a vintage performance whatsoever, though the three points that are now on the board could be absolutely massive come the end of the group phase.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has often been criticised for his substitutions, deserves credit for the way he mixed it up to change the game. Edinson Cavani brought tenacity and work ethic to the table. That changed the atmosphere inside the stadium.

Then, Jesse Lingard was introduced. The hometown hero brought elite movement, top-drawer pressing and all his experience to the table. It was his deft, perfectly weighted touch that allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to slot home and send Old Trafford into chaos!

This isn’t the first time Lingard has changed a game. It was his match-winner against West Ham United a couple of weeks ago that gave us all three points then. While each and every time he’s taken to the field, the Englishman has had a positive impact.

It’s exactly why Solskjaer wanted to keep him around. It’s exactly why he deserves his chance to start. We’re lucky to have him.

This weekend, Everton visit Old Trafford. It’s a game that won’t be easy. We’re going to need our in-form players. He’s playing well while the players ahead of him aren’t. Why not throw him the start and see what he can do?

As you’d expect, the United fans would heap praise on the super-sub who changed the game vs Villareal. It was nice to see the supporters back on his side.
