Man United fans impressed by classy Anthony Elanga cameo vs Villa

Man United fans were pleased with what they saw from Anthony Elanga during a bright substitute appearance vs Aston Villa.

Ralf Rangnick’s results have been good thus far, though the performances have still left plenty to be desired.

Sure, Manchester United were in a dark place when he took charge, though there’s been some role reversal going on. Suddenly, our defence looks far more solid than it ever did under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Our attack, on the other hand, feels a little blunt right now. I’m confident that in time, that will change.

It was a struggle under the Old Trafford floodlights again yesterday. Marcus Rashford was the main culprit. He couldn’t get it going at all. More on him on the site later…

I’d like to focus on the positives for now. Anthony Elanga was given a little over five minutes to prove his worth. Well, I’m pleased to report he’d grab that opportunity with both hands.

Our young Swede looked lively from the minute he stepped on the field. Elanga would run at the Villa defence, using his pace, skill and directness to great effect.

That youthful exuberance was on full display. Elanga was always busy, constantly trying to make things happen and looking like a genuine threat. It was probably our best five minutes as a unit, purely because this young man inspired the whole team.

On the back of that, I feel like Rangnick’s hand is now forced. Elanga has displaed more promise and intensity than many of our other attackers have in months. Combined.

The Man United fans would take to Twitter by the masses, claiming that the 19-year-old starlet should start the Reds’ next game following his impressive cameo.
