Manchester United fans heaped praise on Dan James, who put in another decent performance, this time vs Chelsea.
Well, it certainly wasn’t vintage and the draw was a fair result, but Manchester United can walk away from Stamford Bridge saying that was probably a decent point.
Sure, on another day we’d be celebrating all three if the referee could do is job properly, but that didn’t happen and we have to be somewhat satisfied with the overall performance.
It’s usually hard to pick out attacking players as the better performers in these drab 0-0 draws, though when thinking about United’s best, Dan James immediately sprung to mind.
It all starts with his workrate. From the first minute to last, James’ effort was clear as day. He’d always offer himself as a runner going forward while doing his defensive duties with due diligence.
United’s best attacking play also came from his side, with some teasing balls played into the box, coupled with some solo runs that definitely had Chelsea defenders on the back foot. It’s amazing what a little bit of confidence can do, eh?
Sure, he’s not even close to the finished product but James looks a miles better player than he did at this stage last season – and we have to be encouraged by that. At the very least, it gives Ole Gunnar Solskjaer another option when selecting his teams.
With injuries still hitting the squad pretty hard, James will continue to be given opportunities and I’m more than happy with that given the Welshman’s recent form. Thankfully, I’m not the only fan who was delighted with him today.
As you’d imagine, United fans were left impressed as the 23-year-old played well against Chelsea, with one fan saying he was ‘by far’ the best player in the game for us… It’s hard to disagree.
