Man United supporters were left pleased with what they saw from Diogo Dalot vs Brentford last night.
Manchester United Football Club put in arguably their most complete performance of 2022 last night. Credit where it’s due, the lads wanted to send out a message in their final home game of the campaign.
Not only does it give us confidence going forward, it also shows that some players in that dressing room may well be worth keeping. Perhaps all these lads needed was some motivation. After all, with very little left to play for, it’s hard to get yourself fully up for these matches.
There’s no doubt Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show with a simply sublime outing up front. Though we’d like to give some love to Diogo Dalot.
We’ve been his biggest critic over the last few seasons, though last night, he looked excellent in every aspect.
Dalot was solid defensively, which isn’t always a given, while constantly proving to be a threat up the other end of the field.
In an attack-minded system, Dalot could well do a similar job to someone like Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the Portuguese must find more consistency when it comes down to his final delivery into the box. Last night was one of those occasions where his crosses were largely threatening, but that has to happen on a regular basis.
There could well be a good player in there somewhere and it’s up to Erik ten Hag to first decide whether Dalot is good enough to keep around. Then to get that talent out of the former FC Porto man.
As you’d expect, the United fans were largely impressed with what they saw from the 23-year-old vs Brentford. This was one of his better performances, for sure…
