Man United fans were frustrated with Paul Pogba, after a truly dreadful outing last night vs Atalanta.
Paul Pogba has often been considered the talisman for this Manchester United team. The mercurial Frenchman rejoined the Old Trafford club in a £90million deal over five years ago now. It’s fair to say it hasn’t gone as we’d all have hoped.
Consistency has always been Pogba’s biggest downfall. One week he looks like the best midfielder in the world, the next, it feels like he’d struggle to get into a League One team.
Against Atalanta, it was as bad as I’ve ever seen him. The passing was sloppy. The attitude was borderline disgraceful. He was walking around without a care in the world and that’s not good enough for any footballer, never mind one who is regarded as ‘world-class’.
This was supposed to be a game where Pogba plays for ninety minutes due to his domestic suspension, but things got that bad he had to be hooked with around 20 minutes left. I genuinely cannot blame Solskjaer for that.
You just have to wonder whether it’s best for all involved to let Pogba go. Sure, he’ll go on to enjoy success elsewhere, but it just hasn’t worked out at all here. It will be damning to lose him on a free transfer yet again, but I guess United just have to cut their losses and move in a different direction. I genuinely don’t think we’ll miss him all that much.
As you’d expect, the United fans would take to Twitter in their droves to vent their frustration as the key star struggled badly vs Atalanta.
