During an improved performance but poor result, it was Anthony Elanga who’d impress the Man United fans most vs Aston Villa.
Last night was weird. The display was much-improved on the whole, though this time it was the result that left us frustrated.
After a solid outing for 70 minutes, Manchester United would concede two late goals to throw away a couple of points. However, it was the display that gives us something to build on from. No doubt the manager will be pleased with what he saw…
We just looked far more threatening throughout. And it all stemmed from Anthony Elanga. The young Swede was handed his first start under Ralf Rangnick and he’d play with purpose from minute one.
His directness, willingness to try and take players on and high footballing IQ would make it tough for the Aston Villa defence. From the opening whistle, Elanga looked like a constant threat.
Shots on goal, intelligent run-making, good passing and on-ball ability. It was all on display from Elanga, who put in a performance of real maturity and class.
It was a display that should be deemed worthy of a start next time out from Elanga. Let’s be honest here, he’s looked far more threatening than the majority of his colleagues have of late. And now the manager has to repay that performance by letting Elanga keep his place in the XI.
As you’d imagine, United fans would take to Twitter by the masses to express how buzzing they were with the performance from the teen star. He really did set the example on another forgettable evening for the Old Trafford club.
