Manchester United drew 0-0 in a lacklustre game against Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight – and picking players in Red Devils colours who performed well was a real struggle.
Well, one name kept coming to the fore when speaking to supporters; Brandon Williams. The young left-back continues to go from strength-to-strength in his quest to make that starting berth his own. Once again, this evening, he took another giant leap in the right direction.
What makes a full-back is good, old-fashioned hard work. Throughout the 90-minute match, Williams bombed up and down that flank, winning tackles defensively and always giving the midfield an outlet when the Reds were in possession.
Aged just 19, Williams has gone from strength-to-strength with each passing appearance and let me tell you, keeping Adama Traore quiet for a 90-minute match isn’t an easy task. Williams did that and showed a real turn of pace of his own in the process.
Again, it comes back down to the one-on-one battle between Williams and Luke Shaw. For me right now there’s one clear winner. I’m not sure how long Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will persist with the former Southampton man, particularly if Williams keeps playing this well.
Anyway, as you’d imagine, Man United fans were raving about the 19-year-old’s display on Twitter – and rightly so. Quality.
