Man United fans pleased with Fred display vs Young Boys

Man United fans were left impressed with a class Fred performance vs Young Boys.

It feels brilliant to have Champions League football back, doesn’t it?

Although let’s be honest, that game against Young Boys was tough to watch. Obviously, things were made much tougher when Aaron Wan-Bissaka saw red, meaning his teammates had to defend for their lives for the better part of an hour.

In those situations, it’s about standing up to be counted. Some players thrive under the pressure. Others wilt. I’m pleased to report that Fred fell into the former category this evening.

As soon as United went down to 10, they were on the back-foot. Having mobile players who’ll cover every blade of grass are vital. Fred did that wonderfully well, doing the work of two men on his own in that midfield.

He’d throw his weight around, win the ball back on numerous times, make key blocks and keep things ticking over with the ball at his feet. If the Brazilian could play like this every week and find that consistency in his game, he’d definitely win a few more fans back around.

Obviously, the result wasn’t ideal but Fred can definitely take some confidence from the work he did out there. Suddenly, I’m starting to think his absence at the weekend following a disagreement with the Brazilian FA about Covid-19 regulations was a blessing in disguise, because he needed every bit of rest to put his body through that last night. Fair play.

As you’d expect, the majority of United fans were left impressed with the 28-year-old’s workmanlike display vs Young Boys. We’ve compiled some of our favourite Twitter reactions below…
