Man United fans reacted in their droves to another top drawer performance from Eric Bailly, this time vs Real Sociedad.
Well, it wasn’t pretty, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side would book their place in the Europa League last sixteen. In truth, the 0-0 draw was borderline unwatchable, but that was to be expected given the commanding lead.
In the end, though, booking your place in the next round is what’s most important. United would do that at a canter, while it looks like on the injury front, we came through relatively unscathed.
United never really got out of second gear in a game that was a defensive one. For a Red’s team that has often struggled with keeping the ball out of the back of their net – it was nice to see a clean sheet kept.
It’s no surprise that when Eric Bailly starts, this team just looks far more composed. The Ivorian was excellent again last night, winning tackles, making interceptions and blocks, while also being a menace in the air.
Oh, how we’ve missed Bailly over the last month or so. His pace, willingness to put his body on the line and sheer desire to win is something that our other defenders just don’t have. Surely, when fit, this guy has to start all our important matches.
For me, Bailly has to be one of the first names on the team-sheet this weekend. Thankfully, fellow Reds supporters agree.
As you’d imagine, United fans would take to social media by the masses to heap the praise on the 26-year-old, claiming he absolutely has to start against Chelsea this weekend.
