Last night, Manchester United put in a performance to be proud of. Against Chelsea, the Red Devils players just wanted it more. The fighting spirit and desire was a pleasure to see.
To a man, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got it tactically spot on. Fred was magnificent, as was Bruno Fernandes. However, one man definitely stole the show on his return from injury; Eric Bailly.
The Ivorian picked up an injury on pre-season tour, and out of the blue, he was thrown in at the deep end at Stamford Bridge, putting in a Man of the Match performance.
Bailly was calm on the ball, tough in the tackle and an absolute menace in the air. He made an unbelievable last-ditch block to preserve his clean-sheet, while a partnership with Harry Maguire is already developing.
In time, this is a duo that has massive potential. It’s the perfect blend of aggression and leadership. I guess the only thing that’s stopping it succeed in the long-term is Bailly’s injury woes, though if he can stay fit until the season’s end, we’d all feel far more confident.
As you’d expect, Twitter was awash with United fans heaping praise on the 25-year-old for his brilliant display, and rightly so too!
