Man United fans reacted in their droves as Fred dropped an absolutely woeful performance vs Leicester City.
Well, our FA Cup dream is over for another year. Poor performances from pretty much everyone out on the field in Red led to the inevitable defeat, as Manchester United would lose 3-1.
This team once again just continues to confuse us all. One week, United look like world-beaters, another, they look like they couldn’t beat anyone in the world.
Whether it’s a confidence thing, or bad coaching, who knows. However, one thing is for sure, I’m struggling to think of a worse performance this season than Fred against Leicester City.
The mad thing is, the warning signs were there. Time and time again Fred would give the ball away needlessly in the opening exchanges. Shortly after, he’d leave Dean Henderson about five-yards short with an awful back pass. It’d lead to an easy goal for Kelechi Iheanacho who took full advantage.
What’s even more baffling was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to leave Fred on when four changes were made. I don’t see why on earth the Brazilian was given another chance because it didn’t get any better from there. Not until the 84th minute was Fred taken off, by which point the damage was already done.
It’s a weird one because Fred can have some great games, particularly against the elite teams. I guess he sums up this term perfectly; consistently inconsistent.
As you’d imagine, United fans would be left disappointed and vent their frustration all over social media. It certainly was a poor day at the office for Fred…
