Man United fans react as Harry Maguire struggles again vs Atalanta

Man United fans were less than impressed with a poor Harry Maguire performance vs Atalanta.

Alright, so in terms of full disclosure, we know Harry Maguire scored the leveller with a lovely finish. However, what happened in the 75 minutes prior to that was not good enough yet again.

Just like the game at the weekend, I still don’t believe our captain is anything close to being fully fit. In fact, I firmly reckon he’s been pushed back early due to the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer simply doesn’t trust the likes of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones right now.

First and foremost, Maguire is a defender. This side, with him in it, has kept one clean sheet in their last twenty games. That’s not good enough whatsoever and against Atalanta, it was more of the same.

Maguire got bullied time and time again, particularly in that first half. While I don’t think I’ll ever figure out what he was trying to do for Atalanta’s second goal.

It makes me sad because I love Maguire as a player. Time and time again he’s come through when we’ve needed him the most. But over the last two games, he just hasn’t been good enough defensively.

I don’t doubt that he’ll come back better than ever before once he’s back to 100%. But right now, he’s a shadow of his former self and the confidence definitely looks low.

As you’d imagine, the United fans were displeased and they’d take to Twitter to vent their frustration as the key star struggled badly vs Atalanta. One fan went as saying he should’ve been dropped, while others see him as the real liability, not Victor Lindelof…
