Man United fans have expressed their disappointment, as Jadon Sancho struggled vs Young Boys.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United took on the Young Boys of Bern in their first Champions League outing of the season last night. After Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s red card, it was a tight-knit, hard-fought game for the final hour – which is the least you’d expect in Europe’s premier competition.
Sadly, when Wan-Bissaka saw red, someone had to be hooked in order to bring on another defender. Sancho’s opening 30 minutes left plenty to be desired, which explains why he was the one to be hooked…
It was undoubtedly an unfortunate situation that United and Sancho found themselves in, but the Englishman was always going to be the one to come off.
He left plenty of passes short while often making the wrong decisions with the ball at his feet. The 21-year-old just couldn’t make an impact on the game in a positive way – though I’ll stress he wasn’t alone in that regard.
I wonder if it’s a confidence thing. He’s gone from being the main man at Borussia Dortmund, to one of many superstars here at Old Trafford. It’s also worth noting he’s still adapting to the English style of play, which is very different to German football.
No doubt Solskjaer will keep the faith in the Englishman who’ll get all the time in the world to make a positive impact at the club. Everyone fully backs him to go on to enjoy success and that will definitely happen. He would have wanted to start on a more positive note, mind.
As you’d imagine, the United fans reacted as the 21-year-old put in a poor outing vs Young Boys. Hopefully, this isn’t a sign of things to come…
