Man United fans react as James Garner scores England U19s goal

In what is becoming an almost weekly occurrence here at Old Trafford Faithful, once again, the fans are clamouring for James Garner to finally be handed his first-team start.

I mean, it’s only a matter of time, right? The talented teenager has been in stunning form for United’s U23s this term – and now he’s taken his talents onto the international stage.

Last night, England’s U19s took on France, a game in which Garner proudly wore the captains arm-band. Although the Young Lions would lose 3-1, it’d be United’s next up-and-coming midfielder that bagged the sole England goal on the day.

Garner continues to go from strength-to-strength, which further begs the question as to why he still hasn’t gotten a sniff of a first-team opportunity this term.

It’s made all the more frustrating for the midfielder as he has to watch his mates get chance after chance. Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and now Brandon Williams have all been involved with regularity. Why hasn’t Garner? Particularly as United are so desperate for a new central player…

Anyway, the fans took to Twitter to react to the 18-year-old’s goal-scoring display for his country and the response was typically the same. Just why isn’t he involved yet…?
