Manchester United had a huge clear out over the summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer choosing to thin the squad and putting his trust in youth – rather than signing replacements for the likes of Romelu Lukaku et al.
Another one of those who left Old Trafford was Alexis Sanchez – albeit only on a short-term basis. The Chilean headed to Inter Milan and this weekend, he made his first start for the Serie A giants.
In predictable fashion, Sanchez hit the ground running. He actually scored twice for his new club – before getting sent off in the second 45 minutes.
After failing to do absolutely anything for United, while collecting a colossal wage, it’s just typical for Sanchez to go to Inter and prove that the Old Trafford club is the problem – not the player himself…
It’s a shame because United, ironically, are still paying him a good chunk of his wages – only to watch him flourish for another club.
As you’d imagine, the conversation on Twitter surrounding Sanchez was mixed. Some fans were feeling positive as it adds some value to the player as United look to sell him permanently. Others were disappointed that the 30-year-old loanee star never played like this for us.
Anyway for now, enjoy the best Twitter reaction here:
