Patience is wearing thin amongst fans in regards to Harry Maguire, who wasn’t at his best again last night vs Burnley….
Manchester United picked up a pretty big three points at home to Burnley last night, with the Old Trafford crowd being treated to three first-half goals.
The attacking output was solid against an excellent defence. Though United’s backline continued to look rather shaky.
It all starts with club captain Harry Maguire. There’s no doubt that the Englishman is an incredibly important defender for us in the long term. However, recent performances just haven’t been good enough.
Suddenly, the Three Lions defender is starting to look very shaky and playing with a severe lack of confidence. He was terrible with the ball at his feet, while time and time again he lost headers from set-pieces – which is usually one of his biggest strengths.
You get the feeling that Maguire is struggling to deal with the pressure that comes along with being United captain. It’s worrying that we’ve been in this situation since the start of the campaign.
Right now, the best thing for all involved would be to sit Maguire out for a game or two. The club captain needs some time away from the spotlight, though if he’s benched, the media will have a field day in regards to that, too. It really is a tricky situation.
As you’d imagine, United fans were less than impressed with the display from the 28-year-old, who looked very poor again vs Burnley. This is really becoming a concern now.
