Manchester United are left with a bittersweet taste in their mouths this evening. The Red Devils lost 2-1 on the night, but the faith that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer placed in youth has to be commended.
The Baby Faced Assassin’s side started well, though credit to FC Astana, who turned things around in the second 45. There were positives to be taken from the game, though, with several debutants impressing.
For me, the biggest takeaway was that midfield pivot of James Garner and Dylan Levitt. The latter, in particular, looked right at home at the heart of the Red Devils’ midfield.
Tidy on the ball, composed, always looking to move it forward and get his team heading in the right direction. It felt as though Levitt was the seasoned professional in this team and I find it hard to fathom that it was his first ever match at the highest level.
Honestly, you look at how average the likes of Fred and Andreas Pereira have been to start this term, I’m left scratching my head as to why Levitt hasn’t been involved more.
As you’d imagine, United fans took to Twitter to react to the 19-year-old’s cracking debut vs Astana. Hopefully, this is the first of many midfield masterclasses.
