Manchester United offered up a real mixed bag today. For the most part, the Red Devils struggled against an in-form Sheffield United. However, there was a mad fifteen-minute spell in which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men showcased their talent.
It was exciting to watch, though infuriating at the same time. After all, why can’t they play like that for ninety minutes? Anyway, as per usual, there was one shining light; Marcus Rashford.
The homegrown talent was absolutely superb in that second 45. It all starts with good, old-fashioned hard-work and desire. Rashford has always had that in abundance, and when his tail is up, there aren’t many better players in the country.
It was his neat assist to Mason Greenwood which levelled the score at 2-2, before Rashford turned scorer to give United the lead after an excellent Daniel James cut-back.
It’s easy to forget that Rashford is still so young. It feels as though he has been around forever, yet his best years are without doubt, still to come. This season, we’re finally seeing consistency from the #10 and it’s superb watching a homegrown talent flourish at the highest level.
Anyway, as you’d imagine, Twitter was full of praise for the young man, with several buzzing about the 22-year-old’s form. We’ve compiled the best tweets here:
