Man United fans react to dreadful Luke Shaw display vs Liverpool

Man United fans were left particularly disappointed in Luke Shaw, during a forgettable game at Old Trafford yesterday…

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer probably didn’t get a wink of sleep last night. Our Baby Faced Assassin watched his side get decimated 5-0 at the hands of our fiercest rivals yesterday.

The writing feels like it’s on the wall for Solskjaer. I’m not sure how you come back from that. Though it’s also fair to suggest he wasn’t helped by his players.

To a man, not one of the lads turned up and played even close to their average yesterday. Be that due to a lack of motivation, a lack of intent, or a lack of care for the badge on their chest, it simply wasn’t good enough.

You can pick out any solitary player, though for me, it was Luke Shaw who dropped the most disappointing display. Not too long ago the Englishman was being talked up as the best left-back in the world.

His start to the 2021/22 campaign has been anything but world-class. Rather, he’s struggled more often than not – and yesterday afternoon was the worst performance of the lot.

The most hurtful thing from a fan standpoint was that Shaw just didn’t look interested in defending. He was so weak for the opener and from there, it felt like the ex-Southampton man just threw in the towel.

Be it due to being overplayed, underconfident or just downhearted due to the poor overall start on the day, it just wasn’t acceptable. I don’t doubt that Shaw is going to improve from this because he’s too good of a footballer to just lie down and take it. I can’t get away from just how bad he was yesterday, though…

As you’d imagine, United fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations at the £150k-a-week star (Spotrac) who has ‘turned into a liability’. It’s hard to disagree with Shaw’s poor start to the campaign…
