Manchester United have always been known for their willingness to promote youngsters, and give them their opportunities on the highest stage.
It’s a mantra that the Red Devils have somewhat gotten away from over the last few years, though under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, we’re back heading in the right direction in that regard.
Over the summer, there was a long, drawn-out acquisition of 16-year-old midfielder Hannibal Mejbri. In the end, the Reds would get their man and Mejbri would head straight into U18s football.
Well, just around a month later, the talented Frenchman would kick it up a notch and make his United U23s bow in a game against Aston Villa.
Although coming on as a substitute, it’s fair to say Mejbri impressed and he changed the game in a positive way.
As you’d imagine, United fans were buzzing about Mejbri, and took to Twitter to react to a promising debut from the mega-talented 16-year-old…
Hopefully, this is the start of a long, promising career at United for the curly-haired Frenchman. It was an excellent beginning for him, and if Mejbri continues in this vein, I can’t imagine it’ll be long before he’s mixing it with the first-team.
For now, though, we need to let the youngster grow and develop at his own pace as there’s nothing worse than playing with pressure on your shoulders.
Congratulations on the U23 debut, Hannibal!
