Man United fans react to impressive Zidane Iqbal display vs Melbourne Victory

Zidane Iqbal was exceptional again during pre-season, this time, he looked super sharp vs Melbourne Victory.

Manchester United Football Club are now working towards the start of the 2022/23 season, with pre-season tour going along nicely.

The first-teamers are looking sharp under Erik ten Hag, while it’s always intriguing to see which youngsters are ready to step up to the plate.

Many thought Alejandro Garnacho would be leading that charge, though he’s yet to play any minutes thus far. Instead, it’s the midfield duo of Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal standing out.

The latter, who is a boyhood United fan and has been with the club for all his career, looked excellent against Liverpool.

Today, he was equally impressive as United took on Melbourne Victory. Again, Iqbal looked supremely composed on the ball, always asking for possession and playing with confidence. He also displayed a few nice tricks and flicks to boot.

What’s most fascinating to me is the fact that Iqbal already looks right at home at the heart of a United starting line-up. There’s no doubt about his technical ability and natural talent. Now, it’s about slowly developing and turning into that top-class midfielder we all know he can be.

With United looking light in midfield, there’s every chance Iqbal could stay at the club and get some first-team football in the not-too-distant future.

As you’d expect, the Man United fans would take to Twitter in their droves to heap praise on the youngster who put in a top display. One Red believes he ‘needs to be’ in the first-team squad.

  1. Iqbal is clearly competent and the potential is there. but he does not yet seem to me to be a regular game changer. The premiership will perhaps dampen the hype. If not, I withdraw, blushing …
