Manchester United Football Club lost the FA Cup final 1-0 to an average Chelsea team.
The result brings our turgid 2017/18 campaign to a close, with several of our players now jetting off to take part in the World Cup next month, whereas others will already be preparing for next season.
Anyway, back to the FA Cup final for now. Marcus Rashford was given the opportunity to lead the line for the Red Devils, but it’s a chance he simply couldn’t grasp in Romelu Lukaku’s absence.
We all know that Rashford’s strengths don’t lie within his hold-up play, and that’s what made it all the frustrating when our players didn’t give him something to chase over the top.
Rashford’s just not an out-and-out front man and that was glaringly obvious at Wembley Stadium. Sure, he’s an immensely talented young man and no doubt he will improve, but the job at hand was just too big for him this time around – and it highlights why he’s been used out wide rather than through the middle.
As you’d imagine, the Twitterverse was less than kind to Rashford on this occasion, but no doubt he’ll have better days ahead.
Check out the Man United fans reacting to Marcus Rashford’s performance vs Chelsea:
Feel sorry for Marcus Rashford. Isolated up front & doesn't have the physicality to hold the ball up. Not been a great 45 minutes from him whatsoever. Rarely tried to use his pace.

Rashford has been awful for weeks, to see him play like this was expected sadly. Martial’s not even had a shot. His only major game as a no.9 this season was away vs Everton and he scored a beauty. Rashford may be more hardworking but not close to as talented as Martial.

I would take an injured Lukaku over Rashford upfront every day of the week.

Think Marcus Rashford should be happy that the England squad has already been confirmed. 45 minutes he’ll want to forget.

So much hate flying around for Rashford.. so fickle, if he scored the winner today he’d be a hero again probably.. people seem to forget his age.

I love the kid, but Rashford as a striker offers very little. Doesn't carry the ball, so sloppy in possession, narrows the entire attack by dropping deep instead of staying on the last man. Martial, if not Lukaku, would have been a better fit.

Marcus Rashford is a bundle of talent. I won't believe otherwise. He's not just being mentored under the right coach. #FACupFinal
