Manchester United’s pre-season tour has been perfect so far. Three games, three wins, seven goals scored and none conceded. Every aspect of the team has looked in tip-top condition.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s high-pressing game-plan is working wonders at the moment and long may that continue. When the serious stuff starts next month, you’re hoping that United’s players are feeling just as confident.
Today against Inter Milan, the star of the show was Mason Greenwood. The 17-year-old forward continues to go from strength-to-strength as his first-team exposure is gradually taken up a notch.
Typically, Antonio Conte has his side set up in a defensive style with United having to feed off scraps. However, when Greenwood came on, the threat level dramatically increased.
The coolness, calmness and composure in which he took his goal truly was a thing of beauty. He’s showing a maturity beyond his years and no doubt Greenwood is pushing hard for a starting spot when Chelsea come to town next month.
