Man United fans were less than impressed with the poor performance from Marcus Rashford vs Liverpool.
On any other day, in any other season, a 0-0 draw away at Anfield would have been an excellent result.
However, going against a Liverpool team without a recognisable centre-back on the pitch, it feels a little deflating waking up this morning – particularly when we had the chance to open up a six-point gap on our biggest rivals.
It was Manchester United who carved out the best chances, but neither Bruno Fernandes or Paul Pogba could beat Alisson, who made a couple of decent saves.
There was one player who just didn’t look at the races from minute one, though; Marcus Rashford. He was offside five times in the first half alone, which is the most for a single player in any Premier League game this season. The Englishman just went too early more often than not, while looking down the line is one of the first things you’re taught as a forward player.
When he did have the ball at his feet, the decision-making was often poor, too. Rashy had a glorious chance to lay it on a plate for Edinson Cavani late on, but in the end, he’d make the wrong decision and eventually cough up possession far too cheaply.
I get it, players have off-days, nobody is perfect. Rashford has been struggling recently though, which is understandable given how much football he’s played this season. Right now, he certainly looks like a man who needs a week or two off to recharge the batteries.
As you’d imagine, the fans were less than impressed with the 23-year-old’s performance against Liverpool yesterday. They took to Twitter in their masses to claim that he needs a rest.
