Man United fans reacted as Scott McTominay struggled vs Leicester City yesterday.
Manchester United probably had to win all their games to give themselves a slim chance at finishing inside the Premier League’s top four. In typical fashion, we fell at the first hurdle.
A 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City could’ve been an awful lot worse given how poor we played on the day. Let’s be honest, we just didn’t turn up at all – being outplayed for pretty much the whole game.
No single display epitomised everything that was bad about our match more than Scott McTominay. The midfielder could’ve been sent off early on following a shocking tackle, while throughout the match, he just didn’t do anything productive.
Sloppy passing, poor in the tackle, positionally unaware. McTominay’s inconsistencies are still rearing their ugly head from time-to-time. We have to remember, he’s no longer a young player who is still developing. He’s 25 and should be approaching the peak of his powers.
As a squad player, McTominay can do a decent enough job. I’m just not sure he has the quality to be starting regularly for a side with genuine title aspirations. It pains me to say that because he’s an academy graduate who always gives his absolute all for the cause.
As you’d imagine, Man United fans would take to Twitter in their droves, as they were not impressed with the 25-year-old’s performance vs Leicester City. It’s hard to fight his corner…
