Manchester United made it five wins from five thanks to a late Juan Mata winner, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer beat out tough competition from his hometown side, Kristiansund.
To their credit, the Norweigan outfit were well organised throughout and United found it tough to break them down. Again, the midfield was lacking, aside from one player; Scott McTominay.
The Scotland international continued to show his quality as his form on pre-season tour has been exemplary. McTominay has come on leaps and bounds over the last six months and for me, he’s already played his way into the team that’ll take on Chelsea in 11 days time.
It’s the willingness to drive forward, the quick-thinking with the ball at his feet, the desire to take a shot on and the quality of his passing. McTominay’s stock amongst the fans really is growing, with supporters taking to social media to praise the 22-year-old for a top drawer performance… see the best reactions below:
He really did boss it and I do agree that his technique is underrated. Now I know the ‘better than Zidane!’ shout was just a joke, but in all seriousness, McTominay will feel like a new signing for this United team in the 2019/20 campaign.
Hopefully, he continues to develop and grow as a player as his first-team exposure continues. For me, he’s already done enough to surpass Nemanja Matic within the team and it’ll be tough for the Serbian to wrestle his place back…
