Earlier in the week, we covered a story from Calciomercato in which it was claimed that Tahith Chong will not be signing a new Manchester United contract.
Apparently, Juventus are interested in his services and understandably, the Dutchman wants to play with regularity. With just over six months left on his United deal, the ball is in the player’s court.
For United, it isn’t for the want of trying. Chong has been given a few chances this season on the back of an excellent pre-season tour. However, I think it’s fair to say the young man hasn’t stood out.
I don’t like using the term ‘passenger’, but that’s what it feels like. Typically, Juve’s interest in Chong is drawing comparisons to that of Paul Pogba. In my opinion, though, the contrast in talent levels between the pair is pretty significant…
You can’t really blame the player for wanting to play. That’s the wish of any footballer. I don’t really think he’s done enough to warrant starts in big matches so far, though – hence why we haven’t seen Chong since mid-October.
Thankfully, I’m not alone in that regard. United fans took to Twitter in their droves to react to the decision from the talented 19-year-old who is refusing to sign a new deal…
