Anthony Martial looked superb vs Liverpool in pre-season today, with the fans definitely noticing that.
Well, Manchester United’s pre-season is now underway, with Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils looking pretty good – particularly in that first 45 when the senior players were on the field.
Although it has only been a few weeks since Ten Hag officially took charge, it was nice to see United playing with far more effort and intensity than we’ve seen in the past.
I’ll be honest. The man I had reservations about in this new system was Anthony Martial. Well, if his first 45 minutes of football under the new manager is anything to go by, I’m about to be proven brutally wrong…
From minute one, Martial looked a completely different player. He started the press, led the line well and was always moving in an attempt to receive possession.
Lovely lay-offs, crisp passing, strong hold-up play and a genuine presence. Martial couldn’t have asked for a better start, capping off a complete performance with a lovely chipped finish to make it 3-0.
For some of those loyal Martial fans (of which there are thousands!), this was a sight to behold. Yes, this is just the start, but the early signs are certainly pleasing for us all.
Obviously, there’s a long way to go for Martial before he wins back the full trust of us supporters, but continue in this manner and I don’t think it’ll take him long to do exactly that. Onwards and upwards, hopefully!
As you’d imagine, the United fans were pleased with what they saw from the 26-year-old vs Liverpool. They took to Twitter by the masses to share their excitement.
