Man United fans were buzzing with Jesse Lingard, who bossed it for England vs Andorra yesterday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to move on from Jesse Lingard this summer it seems, as the Old Trafford club wanted to clear some space in the squad – while raising some funds to invest elsewhere.

In the end, nobody would take Lingard on a permanent deal, even despite his top form for West Ham last summer.

The Englishman was in line to start United’s opening game of the season against Leeds United, though Covid-19, unfortunately, ruled him out of that one and a couple of league games following.

Now, though, Lingard is back to fitness. He’d prove his worth for England last night, scoring two excellent goals as the Three Lions dismantled Andorra 4-0.

He looked like the Lingard of old. His confidence is definitely returned and now it’s time to make the most of that ability that the Englishman so obviously has.

Things are much tougher now for Lingard, though injuries to Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have potentially opened up a window for the attacking midfielder.

For me, he deserves one final chance to prove his worth. Lingard can still offer something to this squad on a rotational basis and it could all start this weekend if he’s ready to play from the off against Newcastle United. Personally, I’d give him that chance and I’m pleased to report I’m not the only one.

As you’d imagine, the United fans were buzzing with the star, who bossed it for his country. Now, the Reds fans believe he deserves a chance to start with regularity at club level…
