While speaking to Manchester United fans, James Maddison’s name keeps cropping up more and more when talking about potential incoming transfers.
The Englishman is lighting it up at Leicester City at present, scoring goals, assisting them and carving out chances for fun. Just what the Red Devils need, right?
Anyway, United have been given some positive news on that front and it comes from a reliable source. David Ornstein, who writes for The Athletic, believes that all three parties involved in the potential transfer feel that a move for the 22-year-old will take place over the next year…
“Some I have spoken to with links to all three parties [United, Leicester and the player’s camp] feel the 22-year-old will move to Old Trafford within the next year.” Ornstein writes in The Athletic (subscription required).
Maddison seemingly wants to follow in Harry Maguire’s footsteps, making the move from Leicester to Old Trafford. However, like Slabhead, Maddison certainly won’t come cheap.
Ornstein actually goes on to add that there’s a possibility Maddison will put pen to paper on a new deal with The Foxes, in order to protect his value and ensure they get an expensive fee to let one of their prized assets go.
To me, this does feel like a case of if rather than when. Maddison is a United fan, he’ll want to help this club return to its former glories and he’s a player who’ll drastically improve this squad.
It feels like a no-brainer, right…?
