Man United have eyes on Lille striker, Jonathan David.
Manchester United could well look to bring in a new central striker at some point in the not-too-distant future.
The Old Trafford club have an unhappy Cristiano Ronaldo on their books, while Anthony Martial sadly cannot keep fit.
Erik ten Hag finds himself with a big decision to make in that area of the field. The Red Devils will likely sign a new forward, next summer at the latest.
Now, Jonathan David is being talked up as a possible target. It’s Goal journalist Ignazio Genuardi with the claim, who tweeted his latest information (in French) yesterday.
Apparently, United are amongst the clubs that ‘closely follow’ David. The Reds, who are ‘in search’ of a new centre-forward, strongly ‘appreciate the profile’ of the 22-year-old striker. The Old Trafford club have always ‘regularly supervised’ David while he’s been in action.
Check out Ignazio Genuardi’s tweet on a Man United move for Jonathan David here:
In terms of stylistic fit, David is someone who ticks all the right boxes. Young, hungry, a willing learner and a hard worker. The Canadian international also scores goals.
In Ligue 1 this season, David has nine goals in twelve matches, which is obviously an impressive return.
With the January transfer window looming, you’d expect to see United consistently linked with moves for new players – though whether a winter deal is possible remains to be seen.
I would hazard a guess that this one would likely have to wait until next summer, due to the fact Ten Hag spent over £200m last time around. It largely depends on what happens with Ronaldo, too. If the club can get his wages off the books, maybe there’s a chance of a January transfer for David?
