Man United have Napoli midfielder, Fabian Ruiz, on their transfer radar.
Perhaps Manchester United’s biggest problem area is midfield. Ralf Rangnick will now know just how big-of-a-task he has on his hands.
The question in regards to whether money will be offered to our German manager in the mid-season window remains. However, with several transfer links every day, you do get the impression that Rangnick will at least have his say on potential incomings.
A new name has been thrown into the ring over the last 24 hours; Fabian Ruiz.
The midfielder currently plies his trade for Napoli in the Serie A, with United now showing an interest, La Repubblica writes.
Apparently, United are ‘on pole’ in the race to sign the 25-year-old who has emerged as a regular starter for the Naples outfit. The Spain international is also being eyed by Napoli’s Serie A rivals, Inter Milan.
Ruiz’s current contract situation is proving to be problematic for Napoli. The midfielder’s current deal expires in 2023, with La Repubblica claiming that they ‘could sell’ the player to United this summer. That’s so they don’t lose him for free the following summer.
One thing I will say is that United have to tread very carefully when it comes to potential signings. As things stand, I imagine they’re no closer to deciding who the new manager will be. If they’re intent on signing players, they have to ensure that the new addition fits in with what the potential new manager wants. Otherwise, it’s pointless.
Ruiz is a player who, on paper, should be an instant starter for United under any circumstance. He plays in a genuine position of need for the Old Trafford club – and if he performs to his capabilities, he’d instantly become one of our better players.
