Man United are looking to cash in on Jadon Sancho this coming summer, regardless if Erik ten Hag stays on as manager.
Manchester United haven’t made life easy for Erik ten Hag during his first couple of years as manager. He’s had a variety of off-field issues to contend with, most notably, the Glazer family part-selling their stake in the club, while handing over control of football operations to INEOS as a result.
The Dutch gaffer has also been contending with many player problems. The Cristiano Ronaldo saga, Antony’s off-field issues and more recently, the Jadon Sancho dilemma.
Sancho, signed from Borussia Dortmund for big money, wasn’t performing well in training. Ten Hag chose to drop the Englishman from the squad, before the player would hit back on social media. He was exiled for multiple months before heading to Borussia Dortmund on loan…
By all accounts, it’s not going great for Sancho over in Germany. In all likelihood, he’ll be back at the Theatre of Dreams this summer – but only in the short-term.
According to Football Insider, United ‘fully intend’ on selling the star permanently this summer, regardless of whether Erik ten Hag remains in charge or not.
Ten Hag’s future is far from certain given United’s league position, plus, it’s easier for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to let him go as simply put, he wasn’t chosen by INEOS.
However, that will not stop United cashing in on Sancho, as the Reds will accept a ‘reasonable offer’ for the player as they look to bolster their transfer kitty ahead of the summer.
The problem for United here is that Sancho is on massive wages. Around £250,000-a-week to be exact. He has a deal that runs until 2026, so you’d imagine the Reds will end up subsidising those wages pretty significantly, assuming they can find a buyer at all…
His performances and attitude will instantly turn off many top clubs from even considering a move. I don’t doubt some others will take a calculated punt on Sancho, but only at minimal cost to themselves. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if United can only secure another loan for the winger next season.
