Man United are one of the sides showing a keen interest in acquiring Darwin Nunez.
We’re still in May, yet Manchester United continue to be linked with pretty much every name under the sun.
Erik ten Hag will bring his own ideas to the table and with several players leaving, United will have to spend big to overhaul this squad.
One name that seems to be popping up pretty frequently in the media is Darwin Nunez. We’ve been on top of all those claims here.
Well, we did miss one article that was posted over the weekend and it came from Football Transfers.
They state that United are one of the sides who hold a ‘genuine interest’ in signing the 22-year-old Nunez this summer. On top of that, the player has already met with some Premier League clubs ahead of a potential move to those sides this summer.
Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also showing an interest in Nunez, who had a mightily impressive campaign for Benfica over in Portugal.
Football Transfers have revealed that agent Eugenio Lopez will act as Nunez’s official agent in the Premier League, while Jorge Mendes’ name will remain attached to the deal too.
Although both Madrid clubs are also keen on Nunez, the idea is that the Uruguayan comes to the Premier League this summer. Then, it comes down to picking the right club.
This is where United could fall short. Nunez wants Champions League football which is understandable, though the pull of playing for the Red Devils could prove ‘too great’. Football Transfers state that the Portuguese contingent of Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Diogo Dalot could also play their part.
It’s also worth noting that this move will not happen soon, with no official movement expected until July at the earliest.
