Man United get huge injury boost as 27-year-old returns to squad

Manchester United have been handed a major injury boost, as Marcos Rojo, 27, alongside Luke Shaw, 22, both were pictured with the travelling squad heading to Portugal, per the IB Times.

Jose Mourinho has been without the services of Rojo since April, after he suffered ligament damage in a game against RSC Anderlecht in the Europa League.

This is the first time that the Argentine defender has been involved with the rest of the squad before a match, which is a major boost – and it comes at a good time. Eric Bailly missed United’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool over the weekend, and we don’t know how long he’ll be out for at this point.

Alright, I’d be extremely surprised if Rojo plays against SL Benfica on Wednesday night, but the fact that he’s back in amongst the squad is a huge plus. He was one of Mourinho’s go-to guys last term, and I fully expect him to rediscover that great form when he’s back to 100%.

We need to be patient with him. Cruciate injuries aren’t to be taken lightly, and it’ll probably take him quite a while to get back up to speed, but it gives the manager another option in a key area of the field. Don’t forget that he can also play left-back too…
