Man United have been given an early boost ahead of their game against Real Sociedad this Thursday.
The football games will start to come thick and fast for Manchester United Football Club, with the Europa League starting up this Thursday.
Erik ten Hag’s first test is a tough one – Real Sociedad. The Spanish side always run us close whenever matches are played. We should expect this game to be no different.
However, United have been given an early boost, with AS reporting that Real Sociedad have suffered a ‘very important’ injury loss ahead of the game. Shout out to Sport Witness for the translation.
Apparently, 25-year-old defender, Robin Le Normand, will not be available for the match, as he cannot be risked due to a bone stress injury.
Le Normand had been an ever-present in Sociedad’s defence before this injury, though he could be out for the better part of a month with the issue.
As we’ve already touched on, games against Sociedad are always close. More often than not, these fixtures end up in draws. This side can play football, though you’d hope that even if United put out a much-changed line-up, the Red Devils should be able to capitalise on this loss – and hopefully, kick off their Europa League campaign with an important victory.
From a United standpoint, we’re all hoping to see more of Antony, while there’s a good chance we see a full debut for summer signing Casemiro. I’d also love to see Zidane Iqbal and Alejandro Garnacho given some first-team minutes, though there’s plenty of risk involved with doing that at this young stage of their respective careers.
