Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the Stamford Bridge club the green light to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United. That’s what The Sun writes, who say that the deal could cost the Red Devils a huge £50million.
Apparently, the Serbia star is desperate to be reunited with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford this summer, with United already seeing a £35million bid rejected at this point.
Now, Abramovich has sanctioned the move providing that United meet Chelsea’s aforementioned £50million valuation – which is a huge sum of money.
Personally, I thought that there would be no way Chelsea would deal with us this summer following the fact that we snatched Romelu Lukaku from right under their noses, but at the end of the day, Abramovich holds all the power.
Let’s be honest, they’d be rather silly to turn down such a massive transfer fee for a man who is 28, who probably won’t be playing week-in-week-out for the London club.
It seems to me like all parties want this move to happen, and he’d definitely give our defensive line that extra bit of protection. Bringing in Matic would be an excellent signing and the fact that he and Mourinho know each other well can only benefit us; meaning he should be able to adapt to life at a new club quicker. That’s providing the deal happens, of course.
