Man United have been given a nice lift, with Luke Shaw looking set to be ready for the beginning of the new campaign.
Luke Shaw had a fantastic EURO 2020. It can be argued he was amongst the best players in the tournament.
What made it even more impressive was that from the Germany game onwards, the left-back was nursing a rib injury. When the news came to light, it placed his availability for the season opener in doubt.
However, United have been given a massive injury lift on that front, with the scoop coming from the Manchester Evening News. Apparently, the key star Shaw is ‘expected’ to be fit for the start of the season.
The 26-year-old has returned back in Manchester after his holidays in Mykonos, Greece. He’s currently self-isolating ahead of a return to training.
Without having been assessed by United’s medical staff as of yet, the left-back is ‘confident’ of being fit enough to take on Leeds United in our season opener on August 14th.
Shaw is set to have about two weeks of training under his belt, while taking part in United’s prepared training camp in St. Andrews next week. He’ll be targeting the final pre-season game against Everton as a chance to get some minutes in the tank before the Leeds opener a week later.
With Alex Telles sidelined until at least September, this is an important boost for the Old Trafford club. Shaw has been playing at an incredibly high level recently and we’re going to need him to be at his best if we want to line the trophy cabinet with silverware in 2021/22.
