Man United goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara charged by FA for allegedly biting opponent

Well, this is a story I never saw myself writing but here we go…

Manchester United’s 23-year-old starlet goalkeeper, Kieran O’Hara, has been charged by the FA for allegedly biting an opponent, Burton Albion have confirmed.

The budding shot-stopper is currently on loan with the League One outfit, though they released a statement earlier today, claiming they’ll be contesting the FA charge.

The Sun adds that O’Hara has been hit with the charge of violent and/or improper conduct for his behaviour during the 44th minute of Burton’s game against Peterborough over the weekend.

Apparently, O’Hara bit Sam Szmodics while a corner was getting ready to be taken – although it’s strange as there was no mention of the incident in the referees full-time notes…

The police aren’t involved, though the below picture has been doing the rounds online, though to me, it doesn’t look all that clear…

I’d like to think that this is all some misunderstanding, though I’m somewhat worried as if it definitely didn’t happen, you’d hope that Szmodics would come straight out and deny the claims.

To my knowledge, that hasn’t happened. If it did indeed take place, there’s no place for that in football and I’d expect O’Hara to get a lengthy ban. If not, the young keeper should expect a sincere apology from the FA. I guess we’ll have to wait and see the outcome…
