Manchester United’s transfer window has been fairly quiet. Perhaps it would have been different if Jose Mourinho were still in charge, but with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the wheel on a temporary basis, it was always going to be tough to give him money to spend.
Now, though, after being in charge for over a month, it seems as though the board are allowing him some flexibility in terms of letting players leave. The latest rumoured move is a loan exit for Joel Pereira.
That’s according to Simon Peach, who tweeted the story earlier today, claiming that the fourth-choice shot-stopper will be heading to play for Belgian side Kortrijk.
When discussing Pereira, I always say the same thing. He’s obviously immensely talented but it’s going to be extremely tough for him to earn playing time at United.
When you’ve got the best goalkeeper, and arguably best back-up goalkeeper ahead of you in the pecking order, you’re facing an uphill battle. This loan move away will do him the world of good due to the regular playing time that Pereira will receive.
No doubt he’ll come back to Old Trafford a better player because of it, but again, the problem remains. Honestly, I don’t think it’ll be long before he’s sold because he’s just too good to sit and wait in reserve.
